[The images i shot are free to use, just do not resell it and claim it as yours. The maps are not mine they are hotlinked from other websites. Thanks.]

Ortigas Center is a premier business district located in Pasig City. It is bounded by cities Mandaluyong and Quezon.

Ortigas Center can easily be found if one is travelling along the historic EDSA road and going to SM Megamall.

This is along Pearl Drive, a street where an office condominium Tycoon Center is located.Pearl Drive

Amber Drive, perpendicularly connected to Pearl Drive.

Bonifacio High Street

Bonifacio High Street
is located in the Fort Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City. I highly recommend this mall for those who are seeking a not so crowded place to hang out, dine, and to shop.

Bonifacio High Street is squared U shaped in plan enclosing an open court. This is completely different from the malls around Metro Manila. The shops that surrounds the court probably has three floors at the most.

Manila Quick Background

Manila, the capital of the Philippines, located in Southwest of Luzon, the Philippines’ biggest island.

Manila has an approximate population of 10 million people scattered across cities and municipalities that comprise the term Metro Manila, and these are Mandaluyong City, Pasig City, Quezon City, Caloocan City, Makati City, Marikina, Taguig, Paranaque, Las Pinas, San Juan, Navotas and Muntinlupa.

Its city name originated from the phrase “may nilad” in English it means “there is nilad.” Nilad is a name of a shrub that was found in abundance along the banks of Pasig River. The name had some series of changes, from Maynilad, it became Maynila, but the latter is still widely used by the locals. But popularly and officially it is Manila. I like the word Manila.

Currently, Manila dominates in all areas more than any other city in the Philippines. Virtually, every government affairs, academics, business, sports, television, movies, concerts, and even showbiz gossips are take place in Manila. Ironically, Manila is also the center of two economic extremes. The wealthiest Filipino can be found here, and the poorest of the poor can be seen along the streets.

There are a lot of places that anybody can enjoy here. Places like Metro Walk in Ortigas Center, Glorietta in Makati, In my opinion the most popular is Luneta Park, it was here where Jose Rizal, the Philippines’ National Hero died by firing squad during later part of the Spanish colonization.

Since it’s quick background i just end post right here. Visit this blog at least weekly for sights and info about Manila.

About the ManilaBlog Author
ManilaBlog is powerfully administered by Jeffrey, the man behind Gwapito.com. Jeffrey is a Cebuano, born not in Cebu, but in Iligan City in Mindanao. Then went to Cebu City for college and have worked there for a total of approximately 16 years. I am proud Bisaya and of my distinct accent in which Manilans are jealous of.

I have always liked living in the city ever since I was an adorable little boy. The sight of the buildings, the pretty women, the sound of cars and jeepneys. The noise of the tinderas, the shouts of kundoktors and dispatchers.

It saddened me every time our parents took us to the countryside in Kapatagan, Lanao Del Norte. But a therapy for me when going back to the city, in Iligan.

My first Manila experience was in June of 1997 and stayed for about a month to review and take the architects’ board. Then came back on December of 1999 and hung about two months to study and take architects’ board exam for the second time. Then back again in February of 2006, to concentrate on studying and taking the board exam for the third time! Thankfully I made it, got my licensed in August of the same year.

This is my longest stay in Manila, 15 months at the time of this writing. I practically love this city. But will never forget my love for Iligan and Cebu!
