San Juan Is Now Officially a City

San Juan City Metro Manila
Thanks to Wikipedia for the image

San Juan is the newest city in Metro Manila.

I did not know this until a forum member in istorya.net mentioned San Juan City in one of his/her post. I was curious and rebutted his/her comments, but replied to me it became a city a month after the election.

So I searched the internet to verify, and I found a data in Wikipedia. But I don’t trust Wikipedia so I went to Inquirer.net. So there, I am now satisfied.

RA 9388, An Act Converting the Municipality of San Juan into a Highly Urbanized City to be known as the City of San Juan. The date was June 16, 2007.

Quick Facts:
-Joseph Ejercito Estrada is the famous mayor of San Juan.
-JV Ejercito is the current mayor (2007).
-The site of the first battle of the Katipunan.

Wai Ying Fastfood in Tondo Manila

Wai YingAfter our futsal scrimmage last Sunday in Dumlao gym in Mandaluyong, we went to Wai Ying Fastfood in Tondo, Manila. Wai Ying is located in 1237-1241 Benavidez St., Tondo, Manila inside the Manila Chinatown.

The food there are just awesome. The prices are just right. But if i compare it with McDonalds or Jollibee, Wai Ying is kilometers ahead in price and taste!

Take a look at the prices:

The Heritage Park in Taguig City, Metro Manila

The Heritage Park is a memorial park not just for the departed, but also for the living. I was there for the first time last August 26, 2007 to attend a friend’s wife’s death anniversary. The landscape was so beautiful, and the architectural structures were aesthetically stunning and its facilities are of good quality. The attendants were attentive, a service you would truly be pleased about.

The images below were shot by my friend Peaches using my Nikon D40.

Blue Ridge Gym

Blue Ridge is a residential subdivision located in Katipunan Quezon City.

They have a decent gym for basketball, tennis, volleyball and for other purposes. It is free to use for residents. Non-residents are allowed to use the said facility as long as there are at least one resident with you.

Last Sunday September 9, 2007, we played futsal there since Dumlao Gym is booked. But next Sunday on the 16th, we will be back at Dumlao in Mandaluyong.

Tio Pepe: Cheap but Yummy Fastfood Carenderia

For curiosity’s sake I ate at Tio Pepe, the newest carenderia located at Crossing in EDSA, just at the back of EDSA Central.

The prices are low. The place is clean. The facilities don’t look low-priced. And most importantly, the foods taste sooo gooood.

Obsessive compulsive that I am my thoughts made several reasons why it was so. Probably, the employees are paid with dirt low salaries. Could be the foods were not sanitized well and so on.

So to quiet down my negative suspicion, I used mighty Google to search about Tio Pepe. It led me to an article by the Inquirer ( www.inquirer.net ) .

Surprisingly, Tio Pepe is owned by Jollibee Foods Corporation. It’s an experimental restaurant concept offering affordable priced Filipino foods without neglecting the sanitation, nutrition, food safety and better restaurant conditions.

Look at the pictures for the pricing guideline.

This is what i ate, it’s called “Laing” (laa – ing). Looks yucky, but tastes yummy!
