Manila’s Tagalog Accent When Speaking English

This is just a friendly comment, no insulting motive, well, maybe a little, hehe…

People from Manila has a penchant to make fun of those who are from the provinces especially the bisayans when the latter speak english. The call center agents from Manila would contemptibly say “regional” or “provincial accent” to their counterparts from other provincial cities.

How about this call center agent with an obvious tagalog accent:

Metro Badminton

I’ve had my first official badminton game at Metro Badminton last Saturday January 19, 2008. Though i played badminton as a kid many many years ago, but it was for fun, no net in between opposing players.

Metro Badminton is a good venue for badminton games both for haves and the have nots. They have affordable rates. A friend told me that they’re one of the cheapest in Metro Manila.

Here are Metro Badminton’s rates:
Peak hours
Holidays, M-F 5:30pm-12:00am
Members: P200 per hour (Taraflex) – 150 per hour (Rubberized)
Non members: P250 (Taraflex) – 200 (Rubberized)

Off Peak – Play All You Can
M-F 6:00am-5:30pm
Members: P50 (Taraflex and Taraflex)
Non members: P50 (Rubberized) – P100 (Taraflex)

My first airplane ride from Metro Manila to Cagayan de Oro city last December 24, 2007. Many of my friends were surprised, amused that at my age (34) i’m such a late bloomer. I was so excited like a little boy and at the same time a bit nervous like an adult.
