GwapoTel, the Cheapest Hotel in Manila?

If you’re on a tight budget, and don’t mind privacy, then Gwapotel is for you.

For 25 pesos per 10 hours, you can have your own sleeping space. The 5 pesos is actually a fee for a shower.

Gwapotel is popular among backpackers, laborers or workers who lived very far from Metro Manila.

Gwapotel is not just the cheapest temporary accommodation in Manila, but the whole of the Philippines.

There are two Gwapotels: First one is in Bonifacio Drive, Port Area, Manila. The second is in Tondo, Manila. But the Tondo branch is facing closure because of the lack of occupants.

Quezon City Squatters Demolition

Quezon City maybe one of Metro Manila’s most progressive cities, but it’s not vulnerable of illegal squatters occupying government owned lots. Even some privately owned lots are not spared.

The recent demolition of shanties in Sitio San Roque, Barangay Bagong Pag-asa in Quezon City spurred riots started by the illegal dwellers. The settlers opposed of resettling to a resettlement site in Rodriguez, Rizal, which according to them has a lot of disadvantages.

The disputed lot will turn by the City Government in partnership with a private company into a Business District.
