Manila Hotel, 1945

As a premium hotel in the Philippines that is. I’m there are at least a few small hotels before the Manila Hotel was built in 1909, and officially opened on 1912.

The hotel was part of the urbanization program conducted by the then US government after taking over the Spanish in 1900. President William McKinley assigned William Howard Taft to lead the project. Daniel Hudson Burnham was tasked to design the proposed hotel. Continue reading →
